Guten Tag!

Let me introduce myself. I'm Michele E. Davis, MFA, PhDr., a writer.

I've been writing since second grade, when I sold my first poem to CRICKET magazine. I began my career as a journalist and graphic designer, then moved into instructor-led training (ILT), which eventually progressed into computer and web-based training utilizing tools such as Authorware, Captivate, WebCT or Java to create user interaction after writing the e-learning scripts.

I am an author, writer, editor and Instructional Designer who enjoys creating user friendly, attractive and easy-to-understand content for any medium. I'm savvied in a variety of applications and operating systems, including enterprise-wide solutions such as PeopleSoft, Oracle databases, Oracle Applications and SAP. I'm learning how to code in PHP and work with more Open Source technologies. I've co-authored and authored over 18 books.

I've edited nonfiction and fiction books, medical journal articles, medical documentation, created RFQ's, and RFP's. To be honest I've probably written or edited anything you could name, give me a call or send me an email and I can give you project prices and deadlines.

I spoke at the 2000 Society of Technical Communicators (STC) conference in Orlando for two sessions. One on being the Managing Editor for five years of the STC's Marketing Communications Special Interest Group's quarterly newsletter, Impact! called "Newsletters, Who Me?" and "Making the Move to Marketing." You can see some of the conference work here: Michele's speaking engagements.

Hobbies:

  • Music: (especially Goth) Bloc Party, The Lies, Sisters of Mercy, Sleep Chamber, Sisterhood, Cruxshadows, Project Pitchfork, Tear Garden, The Cure, Peter Murphy, Chumba, Nick Cave, Mission UK, 50 Cent, and DJ Alligator!
  • Movies & Television: Pretty Persuasion, Amelie, Heathers, Fight Club, The Hunger, Matrix, Bound, American Beauty, House of Yes, MST3K, and
  • Harry Potter. Especially Rickman! Snape is my master (house master that is) Winamp screens. Leave me alone and They stare at me all in black. Just click to download!
  • Distractions include: Reading books, my three children (one's finally gone!), biking, horse-back riding, tennis, Ren Fest, being a Thrifty Hipster, long walks, and writing.
  • I'm a big fan of semantical arguing and mental gymnastics! I have a rapier wit.

I'm very normal!
